The 2010 Time-Travellers' Gala
World’s Fair - The Inventor’s Exposition
In a triumph of society, the most fashionable people from Europe and The Americas will be attending the World’s Fair Gala. Guests will be able to mingle with, as well as view the works of, inventors and adventurers from around the globe! One will be able to discuss the latest missions of The Extraordinary Leaguers, marvel at the latest steam technology and be graced by the most astounding neo-Victorian apparel for the social event of the centuries! Both the fashionable sets from Savile Row and Mr. Verne’s pages will gather to celebrate the acclaimed World’s Fair Gala!
For those wishing to dress on the Steampunk side, the restrictions of Victorian have just been loosened and creativity has been opened up to the limits of the imagination! Everything you have ever dreamed to do with your Victorian ensemble has become a reality. Add a zipper, fray the hem, accessorize with some leather and allow your “modern” Victorian to come out and play! Of course all time periods are welcome at the Gala, whenever you are from - the finest apparel is always appropriate.
Socializing will begin at 6:30 pm when guest may enter the ballroom; dinner will be served at 7:30 and then dance the night away to the sounds of the time traveling DJs. There will be a no-host bar and special menus available upon request. The festivities will go until midnight, enough to time to take photos among our splendid Steampunk décor as well as go down the hall and get professional quality photos taken on the CGW Red Carpet.
Tickets to the Steampunk Time Traveler’s Gala are currently available for the price of $75 for CGW and Sister Organizations; $85 for all others. Please download the ticket purchase form. Tickets are advance purchase only and are not guaranteed to be available at the event.
Please see the included Gala Meal insert for information on the menu choices for the evening. Should you wish to have either a vegetarian or a special dietary needs meal, be sure to return the form to the address on the insert by May 15th, 2010. If you wish to have the regular meal, you do not need to return the form. Please note that no substitutions or changes can be made to any of the three menu choices.
Friends and family who are not Costume College students were welcome to dine during the Visit to Le Petit Trianon, as the Time Treveller's Gala is open to the general public, and is a great way to see all the fabulous costumes while having a delightful meal. Costumes are not required, but they are encouraged; we only request that you make it rated PG.
If you have any questions or musical requests, please contact the Gala Mistress, Emily Taggart

Even Beauty has to rest from the dancing, sometimes. The 2006 Gala was exhilirating and tiring, too! |

Gala Red Carpet Arrival
Have you ever wondered how it feels to walk down that Red Carpet at the Oscars? Photographers everywhere are vying for your attention so they can get the perfect ‘shot’ of you in all your finery (for the evening news? the tabloids? your own photo album?). Your arrival at the Gala is very much like that. We attempt to offer a bit of organization for all concerned. We have received several wonderful suggestions for improving things and we hope they will make your experience even better than ever.
The Red Carpet Arrival Area is a room designated for picture taking with reasonably decent lighting so we can see all of your magnificent handiwork. The room itself will be broken up into 2 separate areas. The Photographer Area is open to everyone that wants to take pictures of folks in costume. (Since space is a little tight, we ask that the Photographers are courteous and share the space available so everybody can get their shots.) The Model Area is open to anyone who wants to have their photo taken. We look forward to seeing all your beautiful creations as you arrive for the Time Traveler’s Gala.
For those of you who might not be attending the Gala but want to see the lovely outfits, we welcome you to find a space in the Hotel Lobby where you can view the fun. We will try to have chairs available for you. The times for the Red Carpet Arrival Area will be in your packet when you arrive for College and also posted at the Registration / Information desk.
So, bring your best outfit and lots of flash bulbs, . . . uh, . . . memory sticks and batteries!!! Yea, that’s it!!
Photos from Costume College 2008 and 2009
At the “Red Carpet” event of Costume College 2008 and 2009, we had a guest photographer who graciously agreed to post all her photos on the web for the enjoyment of Costume College aficionados and attendees. She also took candid photos in the halls and the Marketplace.
We invite you to visit them and download or order prints at http://picasaweb.google.com/MediaByMeryl.
If there are any people who would like their photos removed from the collection, please let us know and they will be removed. We have, you will notice, not put names on the photos, so please refer to them by number.
Apropos of that, however, please note the following: Meryl wrote: “I was checking out the Terms and Conditions set by one of the 4 printing facilities connected to Picasa (Snapfish, owned by Microsoft who owns Corbis Stock Photos in this case) and look what I found buried way down the list, after letter H:
I. ‘Copyright … as a condition to your Membership, you hereby grant Snapfish a perpetual, universal, non-exclusive, royalty-free right to copy, display, modify, transmit, make derivative works of, and distribute your Content …’”
